Our history
How it all started...
Chris set up Rainbow Waste in 1998.
Originally, Chris & his father, Rowland, were scaffolders & owned a scaffolding Company which they continued to operate alongside Rainbow Waste until Rowland's retirement in 2008.
Chris set up Rainbow Waste in 1998, brought a little refuse lorry & some bins, then worked day & night to ensure the business became a success.
Eventually, Chris found a small holding in Linton where he was able to expand the business by venturing into skip hire.
In 2010, some industrial units in the heart of Swadlincote became available to purchase. With this, Rainbow was able to expand even further, enabling us to operate a waste transfer station.
Over the years, we have continued to invest in our future. We now operate a Biomass boiler for our wood, supply plant & machine hire & plenty more to ensure we can meet the waste disposal needs of all our customers.
In 2015, we acheived our biggest success in ensuring no more of our waste went to landfill. We are extremely proud that we've acheived this & continue to help all our customers to be as environmentally & carbon footprint friendly as possible.
In 2024, we have invested in a large picking station which massively increases how much waste we can process and makes a huge difference in our recycable waste output.
However, none of these acheivements would have been possible without the dedication, loyalty and commitment of our Rainbow staff (both past & present) and our wonderful customers.
As we continue to grow, we are very excited for what the future holds.
